John and Lance Host Time-Life CD Infomercial

Here’s something that doesn’t happen every day!

This past week, John and I (Lance) went to the Jersey shore to shoot the next Time-Life 30-minute infomercial. The new 70s/80s 4-disc soft rock compilation is called “Summer Breeze Collection.” Dance With Me and Still the One are included in the playlist, as are songs from many of the artists we’ve had the good fortune to work with over the years, including …

Player, Ambrosia, Chicago, Hall & Oates, Air Supply, Seals & Crofts, America, Al Stewart, Gary Wright, England Dan & John Ford Coley, Christopher Cross, Robbie Dupree, Beach Boys, Billy Ocean, Carly Simon, Starship, Fleetwood Mac, Cheap Trick, Little River Band, Foreigner, REO Speedwagon … and those are JUST the ones we’ve worked with!

Doing this kind of thing is very different than writing, recording or playing live but, thanks to the incredible crew and able Director, we were guided through the various “scenes”, each consisting of just a few lines of banter between John and me. Although not in our natural habitat, I don’t think we embarrassed ourselves (too much :-).

The infomercial will begin to run this coming fall on cable and late night TV and may run for as long as 18 months. Maybe you’ll stumble across it at some point.

Meanwhile, for everyone who keeps asking “where’s John”, he’s still very much involved. He’s just retired from the road.

I’ve written at length elsewhere about the dozen or so versions of Orleans over the past 50 years, each with its own pros and cons but each worthy of the name “Orleans.” I invite anyone and everyone to come see the current quintet live and see if you don’t agree that the band can still deliver.

And, as always, we’re grateful for your support.
